Honors & Awards Program
Since 1963, the Michigan CEC has annually recognized teachers, parents, businesses, and others for their outstanding contributions and accomplishments reflected through their dedication to students with exceptionalities. Recipients are honored during the MCEC Annual State Conference at its annual Recognition Reception in the Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
All nominations must be received by 4:00pm, December 2, 2011. Awards presentation will be at the 72nd Annual MCEC Conference on March 1, 2012.

Camperships
This is an opportunity for students to apply for funding (up to $200) to attend a summer camp
in Michigan. These camperships are open to students with an active IEP, in need of financial support, and would otherwise not have an opportunity for a summer camp experience.
Applications must be received by March 18, 2012. Notifications will be mailed by April 30,
2012.

Foundation Scholarship Application
The Michigan Council for Exceptional Children created the Michigan Foundation for Exceptional Children in 2001. This scholarship program is intended to provide support for educational/training opportunities when students are no longer eligible for special education (and Section 504) programs and services provided by public education (i.e., graduation or reaching 26 years of age). Awards can be granted up to $1,500 and would support anything from transportation, special equipment, tutoring, including tuition. These funds are intended to augment, not replace, funds available through other agencies.

Yes I Can! Award
The Yes I Can! Awards honor students with disabilities who excel. These awards celebrate the achievements of children and youth with disabilities; encourage these individuals to seek their highest potential; and increase public awareness of the abilities, aspirations, and personal qualities of those with disabilities.

ECPC Poster Contest
All students eligible for special education through the age of 26 are invited to participate. The participant may submit art, poetry and/or prose. The art entry must be an 8½x11 or 8½x14” drawing on white paper. The drawing must be of marker, pencil or crayon. The drawing may incorporate a star, which is the logo of the poster contest. The entry should be the student’s interpretation of the Exceptional Children’s Poster Contest theme: Celebrate Every Child.
$100 savings bond for the winning artist and/or poet! $100 for the sponsor.

Entrepreneurial Classroom
One of the highlights of the MCEC Conference is the inclusion of the Entrepreneurial Classroom. This honor is awarded to a classroom that prepares students to enter the community not only in their ability to make and sell a product, but also in the development of their social skills.
Nominations for the 10th annual Entrepreneurial Classroom must be received by 4:00pm, December 18, 2011. Presentation will be at the 72nd Annual MCEC Conference on March 1-2, 2012.
